Welcome to our brand new journal - a place to document life on our island and all the ways we love to share it with our guests. Please allow me to quickly introduce myself.
My name is Kirsten Degner and I’m the proud owner of Woodlands Guesthouse Ltd., and co-owner of Mountain Tide Adventures Ltd. Two companies created out of our love for this land and sea that we have the privilege to call home.
Woodlands Guesthouse is our beautiful two bedroom, self-contained cabin located mid island in the valley of Bowen Island. We are within walking distance to specialty food shops, farms, cideries and multiple trails. Our steep, woodland property offers lush gardens, tall hemlocks, cedars and a multitude of songbirds year round. It’s a guest favourite on AirBnB and is always improving and growing.
Mountain Tide Adventures Ltd., offers a unique wilderness experience for locals and visitors alike. Offering guided hikes with an Accredited Canadian Mountain Guide (my husband, Geoff) through the quiet, unpopulated trails of Gambier and surrounding islands, as well as Garibaldi and Cypress Provincial Parks.
Our day hikes are geared for all levels of fitness. Whether you’re an experienced hiker that enjoys the challenge of conquering a little bushwhacking and pushing yourself to the peak or someone that just loves being in nature to take in the sights and sounds. Maybe your goal is somewhere in the middle - we have you covered.
If hiking is not what you desire in a wilderness experience, then come set sail with us for a beautiful tour of the Howe Sound. We offer two hour cruises with a maximum of five passengers.
